The Piedmont Triad Food Summit


The Piedmont Triad Food Summit is a necessary element in the Triad area. The goal of the Summit is to connect Triad & NC Entrepreneurs to Resources to START, MAINTAIN & GROW their food based businesses.  The #PTFoodSummit is powered by NC’s #1 Small Business Facilitator, Chisa D. Pennix-Brown, MBA of Lady Bizness.  After teaching for the Guilford Technical Community College Small Business for a little over four years, she saw a need to have a genre specific Summit that would allow prospective and current business owners an opportunity to learn more about the varied segments of running a legal food business in North Carolina.  


Pennix-Brown hosted the first Food Summit in 2015 and had a great turn out of about 75 people throughout the one day event.  “We took time off to see what people really wanted, which allows us to have a larger and more comprehensive Summit in 2017,” said Pennix-Brown.  The largest difference with this Summit is that is a Regional effort which will be far more collaborative in the effort to bring Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties together. This will be the first Region wide conference to simultaneously coalesce resources for all of these counties.  The #PTFoodSummit will demonstrate the synergy of Triad in helping to start, grow, and maintain food based businesses in North Carolina.


The 2017 Piedmont Triad Food Summit is Friday, May 19, 2017, from 8 am – 5 pm, at the
Holiday Inn Greensboro Airport located at 6426 Burnt Poplar Road, Greensboro, NC 27409.
This Summit will also differ from the 2015 event as attendees will have a full complimentary breakfast and a comprehensive workshop handbook included in the admission! 

2ndharvestIn addition, a portion of each ticket sale will be donated to address the needs of the Food Deserts in the Triad.  During the Summit we will also take donations of nonperishable food to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.  Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration. Registration is $65 per attendee and can be found at
